Thor's Hammer Glass & Ceramic Mjolnir

Beautiful Thor's Hammer wind chime made with high-fired clay and glass. (Back of chime is unglazed.)

The clay disc, 5" x 4-1/2" and carved with Thor's Hammer, is fired, then glazed with various glazes and fired again. Five strands of fused and cut glass are decorated with Swarovski crystal glass beads, clear quartz crystal chips, agate stone beads and glass beads. The central bead is a ceramic cuneiform Sumerian bead with 'ETLU" or warrior inscribed. The chime terminates in one of my handmade ceramic and glass Mayan pendants. The total length from the top of the hook to the bottom is 19 inches long (48 cm).  The hook is made of chain mail rings and steel.

*Mjolnir or Thor's Hammer: An ancient Norse symbol, a stylised representation of the legendary magical weapon of the Norse God Thor. “Mjolnir” means “lightning,” and symbolised the God’s power over Thunder and Lightning. The Hammer Mjolnir was said to always return after being thrown. Thor’s Hammer amulet was worn frequently by believers as a symbol of protection- a practice so popular it continued even after most of the Norse population had converted to Christianity.
